Practice Greenhealth Expands Greenhealth Approved Seal to Include Furnishing Textiles

New product category enables organizations to identify and procure sustainable textiles including upholstery, wall coverings, privacy curtains, and drapery

Reston, VA, December 16, 2025 – Practice Greenhealth is pleased to announce the expansion of its Greenhealth Approved Seal to include Healthcare Furnishing Textiles, marking a significant milestone in sustainable procurement. This new category enables suppliers to apply for the Seal for textiles used across multiple sectors, including upholstery, wall coverings, leather alternatives, privacy curtains, and window coverings/drapery.

The Greenhealth Approved Seal identifies products that meet strict sustainability criteria based on Health Care Without Harm's Healthcare Furnishing Textile standard, with a primary focus on testing for chemicals of concern. Products in this category can be verified two ways. Manufacturers’ whose products are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified can use an expedited process. Manufacturers without that certification need to provide detailed ingredient disclosure through either a Health Product Declaration (HPD) or Declare Label as well as provide test results for those chemicals that are limited or prohibited in the criteria.

"We are excited to expand the Greenhealth Approved program to include Furnishing Textiles," said Mary Starr, Chief Operating Officer of Greenhealth Approved. “Adding Furnishing Textiles to the Greenhealth Approved program is an exciting milestone for us. We've added more than 350 products to the Seal this year, and each new category helps more organizations—from hospitals to schools to cities—access products that reduce harmful chemicals."

The Greenhealth Approved Seal now covers six product categories: Medical Products, Gloves, Furnishings, Resilient Flooring, Carpet, and the newly added Healthcare Furnishing Textiles. This expansion enables organizations to quickly identify products that have been independently verified to reduce chemicals of concern without conducting their own ingredient verification.

Suppliers interested in applying for the Greenhealth Approved Seal for Healthcare Furnishing Textiles can visit the website (greenhealthapproved.com) for detailed criteria and application information. Organizations can sign up for updates as new textile products are certified.
